Hello, my friends ! Another interesting lesson I learned today in my English class was about gerunds. I learned that a gerund is the -ing form of a verb that functions as a noun in a sentence. Examples of gerunds: - swimming. - reading - walking - painting - running -doing -speaking -fixing -trying -staying Here are ways on how to use gerunds in sentences: Gerunds as Subjects: - Cooking is my favorite hobby. - Dancing makes me happy. - Reading helps you learn. Gerunds as Objects: - She enjoys painting. - They like swimming . - She loves dancing. Gerunds after Prepositions: - He is interested in learning. - They talked about traveling. - He is good at cooking. Gerunds in compound nouns: - A diving board is essential for a pool. - A talking doll is fascinating. Note: Gerunds are not the same as present participles , which are used in continuous tenses.
